LYRIC – A Resource for Youth in San Francisco

LGBTQ+ Courage Resources

Today we are beginning a series of blog posts featuring groups and individuals who provide critical resources for LGBTQ+ communities!  Some are local, some are regional, and some reach a wide spectrum of LGBTQ+ people, communities and allies.  All are inspirations for all of us who seek better health and healthcare for people who identify as LGBTQ+.

This first group is LYRIC – a San Francisco resource for youth in the community!  This innovative community resource:

  • Provides a model for serving LGBTQ youth and advocating for their needs.
  • Conducts a model school-based initiative to eliminate harm to LGBTQQ youth, and to support LGBTQQ youth in schools.
  • Provides, at no charge, individual support for LGBTQQ youth for housing, jobs, name change, etc.
  • Provides PREP education and resources for area youth.

In their own words, their mission is:

to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career trainings, health promotion, and leadership development with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities. LYRIC’s vision is a diverse society where LGBTQQ youth are embraced for who they are and encouraged to be who they want to be. By working towards social justice and supporting young leaders, their families and allies, LYRIC is building a world that honors, respects and appreciates LGBTQQ youth and their contributions.

LYRIC is located at :
127 Collingwood Street
San Francisco, CA 94114
One block west of Castro between 18th & 19th Streets
